| Abstract
| - Resource and fragile assemblages on the web. This object under scrutiny in this paper, namely the architecture of the Web, has seldom been studied. We aim both to shed light on it and to examine the stance that researchers need to take to study such an object. Its particularity lies in the fact that it somehow constitutes the most fundamental level of the Web while at the same time disappearing under new assemblages constantly produced by actors like Google who, on the other hand, have been widely studied in academic literature. We suggest some of the reasons, sometimes political, that could bring researchers to singularize one assemblages in lieu of another. The conclusions drawn insist on the fragility of things and put forward a different way of conceiving ontology. An ontology of worlds “in the making”, although it is not at all reducible to the effect of a performative, demiurgic, agency.
- Cet article présente une réflexion autour d’un objet peu étudié, l’architecture du web. Il se propose dans le même temps de réfléchir au positionnement des chercheurs qui s’attachent à le cerner. Un tel objet a pour particularité de représenter un niveau quasi « fondationnel », laissant néanmoins rapidement la place, sous la pression de grands acteurs tels que Google par exemple, à d’autres agencements auxquels de nombreuses recherches ont été consacrées. La réflexion s’oriente ici sur les raisons, parfois politiques, qui pourraient amener le chercheur à singulariser tel ou tel agencement plutôt que tel autre. Les conclusions qui en découlent insistent sur la fragilité des choses et conduisent à mettre en avant une autre manière de concevoir l’ontologie. Une ontologie à la hauteur de mondes « à faire », qui ne se réduit néanmoins nullement à l’effet d’une activité performative et démiurgique.
